Many have said that TV syndication is dead, and while it’s clear that it is navigating big challenges, it is the cornerstone of our business. Seeing our industry through this lens also speaks to the importance of our local TV stations and their vital role in the foundation of this industry. Their needs and their local news are real issues and assets, respectively, that we need to focus on. Broadcasting is still the most powerful medium in the world, and while streaming and all of the other amazing distribution technologies disrupt and create new business models, our core is strong. It only needs to be viewed and considered differently and educated and calculated risks will fuel its stability.
