ATSC 3.0, or Next Gen TV, is becoming firmly established as the technology platform for a new era of broadcasting. Currently available in markets covering 75% of the US population and with over 10 million NEXTGEN TV sets sold, the transition to Next Gen TV is well underway. But while a full conversion to this new technology seems inevitable for broadcasters, the transition will not be easy, the capabilities and limitations are not well understood, and numerous business and financial questions have been greeted with somewhat murky answers. Let’s talk about them.
