In this beginner to intermediate level Bootcamp with Maxim Jago, you’ll learn all the things you wish you’d learn at film school about the most fundamental building blocks of video and graphics technology. Want to know whether you should request a bitmap graphic or a vector graphic? Wondering why movement in archived video shakes if the field order is wrong? What is a field order anyway? Trying to work out what non-square pixels are? Then this session is for you! This bootcamp explores a wide range of technologies that make modern media possible. Understanding these technological building blocks will speed up your creative work and make learning new media technologies much easier. By the end of this session, you’ll no-longer be faking it until you make it – you’ll understand powerful concepts to give your creative work the edge. In this session, you’ll learn about:
• Binary (and it will be exciting!)
• Color modes for TV and the Web
• Color channels and alpha channels
• How we hear and how microphones capture sound
• Vectorscopes and video waveforms
• Lots of terms like HDR, Vector, RGB, YUV, and Depth of Field
