Back by popular demand, this boot camp with Director/Producer Amy DeLouise will ensure you can tackle all aspects of interview-driven stories with confidence and creativity. We’ll cover story arc design, location scouting, camera setups for sit-down interviews, and the gear list you need for on-the-go b-roll. We’ll dive into what makes compelling “real people” storytelling. Participants will learn how to discern the learning style of their interviewee, how to develop questions that get good soundbites, and how to work with challenging subjects like experts and VIP’s. Whether you are new to production or a long-time practitioner, you’ll come away from this session with new strategies to tackle the challenges of real people stories. Topics include:

  • How do you budget dollars and shoot schedules when working with non-actors?
  • How do you “cast” the best people to film?
  • What are easy camera and lighting setups for interviews?
  • How do you get good soundbites from non-professionals on camera?
  • How do I prepare myself to interview someone I’ve never met?
