Ted Slominski is Chief Technology and Broadcast Engineer for the San Francisco 49ers. From over 2 decades in the industry and witnessing the evolution of technologies, Ted is at the forefront of innovation, seeking to seamlessly blend his passion for film and sports.
His journey began freelancing before the end of college, doodling one-lines of his dream studio while creating media-rich on demand presentations for Fortune 100s. It was during this time that Ted's innate talent caught the eye of industry veteran David Massey, who recognized his potential and brought him on board as the studio tech for Hewlett-Packard. Here, Ted played a pivotal role in shaping and implementing cutting-edge technologies, propelling HP from CAV to SDI and eventually to HD infrastructures. Notably, Ted helped pilot HP’s groundbreaking DETE (Digital End to End) system, revolutionizing digital dailies to delivery workflows.
Subsequently, Ted embarked on a fifteen-year journey of freelance ventures across various domains, including sports, entertainment, film, music, and industrial productions, garnering accolades such as the esteemed Telly Awards along the way. In 2017, he lent his expertise to Al Jazeera as their chief broadcast engineer for their San Francisco studios before joining the esteemed ranks of Industrial Light & Magic as a Senior Media Systems Engineer. During his tenure at ILM, Ted had the privilege of collaborating with the Stagecraft Virtual Production R&D team, culminating in a prestigious Emmy win in 2022.
Ted remains steadfast in his quest to help shape the future of sports production by seamlessly integrating cinematic aesthetics, leveraging large sensor cameras and cine-style lenses
