Hattori, Sally

Sally Hattori is Director, Director, AI/ML Engineering, The Walt Disney Studios, The Walt Disney Studios, where she works on advanced technology projects encompassing production technology innovations. Her expertise spans diverse areas, including pioneering workflow development for next-generation media (4K/UHD, HDR, Immersive Audio), harnessing machine learning for content production and management, and shaping new horizons in entertainment experiences.

Prior to joining 20th Century Fox in 2014, now part of The Walt Disney Studios, she served as Senior Engineer of Technology Strategy and Standards at Sony Corporation, where she was responsible for various strategic planning and standardizations on video codecs, media applications and media services. She has contributed to developing various technologies and standards working with various manufactures, content providers and technology companies.

Sally's passion and contributions extend to her role within SMPTE. She serves as the current SMPTE Standards VP, previously having held the esteemed position of SMPTE Standards Director. Her dedication has not gone unnoticed, as she has received multiple awards for her inventive patents and her influential role in international standards development. She is also honored as a SMPTE Fellow.

Sally holds a Master's Degree in Information and Communication Engineering from Waseda University.
