Andrew joined the USDOT Volpe Center in 2005 bringing innovation to safety, environmental, and economic aspects of transportation. His experience over the last 35 years ranges across academia, industry, government service, and small business ownership with expertise in computational mathematics, signal processing, navigation systems, and airspace architecture.  Andrew currently oversees Volpe’s PNT portfolio and his technical focus is on development at the intersection of vehicle autonomy and resilient PNT services.

Dr. Hansen serves as the DOT liaison to DoD for GPS and as a DOT delegate to the International Committee on GNSS. He received his BSEE (1991) and MSEE (1992) from WPI and his PhD (2002) in electrical engineering from Stanford.
