Misti Turnbull is VP of News for Cox Media Group. She currently focuses on broadcast, digital content, and streaming strategies for all its markets. She has been an integral part of launching 24 local and 5 national streams for CMG and works to keep its newsrooms in a winning position by helping markets focus on multiplatform content strategies, solid fundamentals, workflow optimization, and newsroom alignment.

Turnbull was previously the News Director at WSB-TV, Atlanta’s television news leader. Prior to taking over as News Director in October 2015, she was WSB’s Managing Editor and Senior Executive Producer and oversaw the daily execution of news operations, driving content creation for 55 hours of live local news coverage every week. Turnbull also worked in Denver at KMGH, in Colorado Springs at KRDO and in Norfolk at WAVY and WTKR.

Turnbull has received 20 Regional Emmy awards. While News Director, her team received many honors from AP and the Georgia Association of Broadcasters including Best Newscast, Best Website, Station of the Year, and the AP Pacemaker Award. In 2018, her team received four Regional Murrow Awards including Overall Excellence and one National Edward R. Murrow for Best Newscast.
