Anthony Lemieux, Pierre

Pierre-Anthony Lemieux is a partner at Sandflow Consulting, where he works with clients on worldwide standards and R&D. His expertise covers the entertainment technology ecosystem, from content authoring to consumer devices, including audio, video, subtitles/captions, file formats, and content protection.

 

Pierre-Anthony is an active member of the SMPTE standards community, which he joined in 2001 to help the development of the D-Cinema standards. More recently, he has been one of the architects of the Interoperable Master Format (IMF) and the SMPTE metadata registers, and has chaired TC 35PM and TC 31FS. He currently serves as a Standards Director and continues to contribute to D-Cinema standards.

 

Outside of SMPTE, Pierre-Anthony has been an active participant in W3C, ISO/IEC, EBU, and IETF and maintains several open-source projects, including the imscJS library for subtitle rendering. He is also the chair of the IMF User Group (IMFUG).

 

Pierre-Anthony has a Ph.D. in Physics from UCLA, and a B.Sc. from McGill University. He is a SMPTE Fellow and a recipient of the SMPTE Excellence in Standards Award.
