The HBO Camera Assessment Test marks its 10th year offering an unparalleled deep-dive into the world of professional cinematography, subjecting state-of-the-art cameras to the challenging realities of modern production. Over ten years, the Camera Assessment Series (CAS) has acted as an educational tool, fostering a deeper comprehension of cinematography's technical aspects. It promotes a more nuanced and informed discourse in the industry, raising the bar for technical excellence in visual storytelling. In a rarely conducted seminar, the creators of the CAS, Stephen Beres and Suny Behar will discuss the methodology of the tests, the technology changes impacting the style and type of analysis required, giving the attendee knowledge to apply testing strategy and technique to their own careers. This follows the 2024 NAB Show hosted screening, HBO Camera Assessment Series: Screening & Discussion Session Monday, April 15th starting at 10:00 a.m. in W210-W212. For the most recent assessment in the series, Zeiss Cinematography lenses were exclusively employed, and the camera systems tested included: The ARRI Alexa Mini, SONY Venice 2, RED V-Raptor, BLACKMAGIC Ursa 12K, ARRI Alexa 35 and KODAK 5219 Film. This session will take place in the CineCentral Lecture Area.
